Assessment Methods

Modes of study and Assessment methods

This program is offered via face-to-face classroom lectures and tutorials.  Some tutorials require specific computer software e.g. MYOB or Microsoft Access, these tutorials will be conducted in the computer laboratories.  Some subjects may offer certain modules via web-based learning.

·         Contact hours:  Full-time: 12-17 hours, Part-time: 3-12 hours  (International students must study full-time load).  Attendance will be taken at every scheduled session.  Outside of contact hours, students are expected to self-study between 20-30 hours a week to maintain a good level of understanding of subjects’ content.

·         Assessment methods:

o       Most subjects have at least two assessment tasks, one of which is a final examination.  Some subjects have no final examinations but will have more than two assessment tasks.  Some subjects have “verifiable assessments” which means students have to pass those assessment tasks if they want to pass the subject.

o       Assessment tasks range from oral presentations, written reports, tests and final examinations.  The weightings of these assessment tasks vary for individual subjects.  Some assessment tasks will be done in groups.
