Diploma of Community Welfare Work
The program is designed to prepare trainees to work at a
professional level in the Human Services Industry. During the course
trainees will develop various skills to enhance their ability to
communicate and aid the sector in which they decide to specialise.
Once completed, trainees will be qualified to work in any number of
government departments and non governmental organisations (NGOs)
which service the community both in Australia and Internationally.
On successful completion of this program trainees will be
qualified to apply for a position as a Case Manager, Early
Intervention Coordinator, Program Manager, Community Worker, Youth
Worker and Juvenile Justice Worker.
Work Experience
Students are placed in work places which incorporate 400 hours of
unpaid work placement within the community sector, working mainly
with community services and organisations whose staff and clients
include those from diverse languages and cultural backgrounds.
Students will be dealing with male and female clients, elderly,
youth, children and those with disabilities, mental and physical, as
well as individuals with different sexual affiliations or
preferences, the homeless, drug addicts, amongst others.
Entry requirements for International Students:
• Successful completion of Year 12 or its equivalent and if less,
a demonstrated ability to succeed in the chosen course
• Being at least 18 years of age
• An English language proficiency of IELTS 6.0 or higher.
• A satisfactory outcome of interview with authorized AMI
Education staff or a representative.
• Mature age students with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
Teaching & Assessment Methods
AMI Education recognizes the diverse learning needs of students and
has thus incorporated a range of teaching and delivery methods in
the courses offered. They include observation, discussion, written
assignments, tests, examinations, and/or practical application/work
related projects, classroom instruction, group and individual work,
field trips, teamwork activities and an emphasis on real work
situations through role plays. Assessment will be related to these
training delivery methods.

Recognition of Prior Learning & Credit Transfer

measuring your skills acquired through work or life experiences, or
through qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.

School aged dependants will be obliged to attend school whilst in
Australia and fees may be incurred.
