Admission Requirements

 

AMI REQUIREMENTS

English @ AMI
All students are required to undergo a placement test to determine their current English level. There are no restrictions on students wishing to study General English. Students wishing to study in either the IELTS or EAP streams must satisfy minimum English level requirements before admission is confirmed. Should students not meet the requirements of the course they may choose to transfer into General English until such time as they have attained the appropriate level.

Requirements:
IELTS Foundation - Intermediate
IELTS Preparation - Upper Intermediate
EAP - Intermediate/Upper Intermediate

VET & Commercial Cookery @ AMI
AMI Education has in place the following entry requirements to ensure students have every chance of successfully completing their chosen course. Students who do not have a current IELTS certificate are required to undergo a placement test to determine their current English level. Should students not achieve Upper Intermediate Level results in their placement test, they may be offered the opportunity to defer their studies until the next intake and enroll in the EAP course to bring their English up to the appropriate level. Entry requirements for:

International Students
• Successful completion of Year 12 or its equivalent and if less a demonstrated ability to succeed in the chosen course
• Being at least 18 years of age
• An English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 or higher
• A satisfactory outcome of interview with authorized AMI Education staff or representative.
• Mature age students with relevant experience are welcome to apply.

Local Students:
• Minimum education of Year 11 to Certificate courses and Year 12 for Diploma and Advance Diploma. Relevant work experience will be acknowledge and taken into consideration.
• Proficient literacy and numeracy skills.
• A satisfactory outcome of interview with authorized AMI Education staff or representative.
• Mature age students with relevant experience are welcome to apply.

University of Ballarat @ AMI
A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (Academic Level) with no individual sub-score below 5.5 is required for Higher Education courses. Students who do not have a current IELTS certificate at this level may be accepted into English for Academic Purposes for a minimum of 10 weeks. Upon successful completion of the EAP course they will be able to commence their Higher Education studies.
